About Cascade Village
10 acres and $10,000
Josephine Caring Community began in 1908 with a gift from John Halls of $10,000 and 10 acres of land. He wanted to ensure the elderly in the community were cared for. The community opened with 23 residents and has grown into the caregiving community for all generations that we know today.
Josephine delivers purposeful products for graceful aging. With all levels of care at our Stanwood campus we can accommodate seniors at any stage of life. Our commitment to meeting seniors where they’re at lead us to create the upcoming Cascade Village satellite independent living community. It blends the best of both worlds – freedom to live independently with the peace of mind knowing you can get the care you need at the Stanwood campus.

After decades working in retail and the automotive industry and looking for a change, my mother said to me one day, “The older population of people gravitate to you and you to them, you need to figure it out and work with them and for them somehow.” She passed away later that day. With my mom’s recommendation in mind, I packed up and moved to – where else – but Florida, home to many seniors.
That is when my career working in senior living began. As in my other positions, I enjoyed educating individuals on the “why?” of their decision — whether it’s a car or a Continuing Care Retirement Community or Life Plan Community.
The “why” is not about moving out of your home to a senior community, it’s about making the decision to secure your future health care needs and have a safety net for your future. I love what I do, helping hundreds of people make the most important decision about their future … and I’m not done yet!
